Solar Panel Energy Storage in Cochise County

Battery Backup Built for Cochise County’s Cooperative Grid

The Solar Store installs solar battery storage for homes and businesses throughout Cochise County and Southern Arizona. With NABCEP-certified installers, a licensed professional engineer with 26 years of experience, and over 60 years of combined industry knowledge on our team, we size every system to the customer’s actual energy goals rather than a generic specification.

Cochise County’s electric service is provided largely by a member-owned rural electric cooperative. That cooperative structure shapes how solar export compensation works here, and it’s central to why storage matters more in this region than in many others.

Why Storage Makes Sense in Cochise County

A solar battery stores the energy your panels produce during the day so it’s available at night, during overcast stretches, or when monsoon storms knock out the grid. That’s backup power. But in Cochise County, storage also addresses a financial consideration.

The Arizona Corporation Commission authorized cooperatives to compensate solar members who export power to the grid using a Resource Comparison Proxy (RCP) avoided-cost methodology. In plain terms: the rate paid for surplus solar sent to the grid sits below what you pay for electricity at retail. Residential net metering has already sunset under this framework for the cooperative serving Cochise County, with existing systems grandfathered and new systems subject to the avoided-cost export rate. Storing surplus energy and self-consuming it helps avoid that discount.

What Sets Our Installations Apart

We work with all inverter manufacturers for battery integration rather than being tied to a single product line. Whether you’re pairing storage with a new system or adding it to existing equipment, our team builds around what performs best for your setup. We’re also a licensed electrical and plumbing contractor for both residential and commercial work, so the full scope of an installation is handled under one roof.

Installed systems are monitored weekly. If we spot a problem before it causes a failure, we reach out proactively. That ongoing attention is part of what we provide long after the installation is complete.

Arizona Solar Incentives for Battery Storage

Several financial incentives apply to solar battery installations in Arizona, and understanding them helps buyers plan their investment.

State Income Tax Credit
Arizona offers a state income tax credit equal to 25% of the cost of a qualifying solar energy device installed on an Arizona residence, capped at $1,000. Unused credit can carry forward up to five tax years.

Sales Tax and Property Tax Exemptions
Solar energy equipment and its installation are exempt from Arizona sales tax. Separately, a solar installation doesn’t increase your home’s assessed value for property tax purposes under the state’s energy equipment exemption.

Federal Investment Tax Credit
The federal 30% residential solar Investment Tax Credit was eliminated for systems placed in service on or after January 1, 2026, under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. If you’re evaluating a battery installation completed in 2026 or later, consult a tax professional to confirm what federal incentives currently apply to your project.

Battery Lifespan and Maintenance

Most solar batteries last between 10 and 15 years, depending on usage and maintenance. Lithium-ion batteries, including LFP chemistry, tend to outlast lead-acid alternatives and hold up better under the cycling demands of daily use. Maintenance is minimal: periodically checking charge levels, keeping connections clean, and confirming the enclosure has adequate ventilation.

Hear From Our Customers

  • For people "starting from zero" this was a huge help to us.
Katharine - Thanks to you and the team for getting our solar set up promptly and professionally. I don't have enough good things to say about Kevin, the teams who conducted the installations, and your own involvement. All our friends who got solar done (or tried) have horror stories about scams and unprofessional behavior; it put us off from trying this for a while. We were at first relieved and then very happy. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the process, technology and government requirements. For people "starting from zero" this was a huge help to us.”
