The benefits of installing a commercial solar energy system are many. Both state and federal governments have incentives in place to encourage companies to make the switch to clean energy. Utilities encourage solar installation as well by offering various rebates.

The following tax credits may motivate you to pursue solar installation:

• State: The state offers a tax credit that is equal to 10% of the installation cost of a qualifying solar energy device (passive solar space heat, solar water heat, solar space heat, photovoltaics, solar pool heating, daylighting). The maximum credit is $15,000.
• Federal: The Federal government offers a 30% Federal tax credit on qualifying solar power systems (solar water heating and photovoltaic systems—not solar pool heating systems). In addition, it allows businesses an accelerated depreciation schedule over five years.
• Cash: Cash incentives are available through SWG. The maximum amount is $20,000.

Currently Southwest Gas is providing an incentive of up to $20,000 for the installation of solar hot water and pool heating for commercial customers.
